INS and MODY: MODY is group of monogenic disorders of β-cell function, leading to reduced insulin secretion and diabetes with a predominantly pancreatic phenotype.3,4 It is estimated that MODY is the cause of around 2% of patients with diabetes, although this may be as high as 5%, particularly as the diagnosis is often delayed or missed.4 Whilst the percentage of individuals with MODY is relatively small, the actual number of these patients is significant with a prevalence of at least 1 in 10,000 in the adult population.
