The first study to significantly implicate BANK1 in SSc was reported in 2009; in 2,380 Caucasian patients with SSc, BANK1 polymorphisms—rs10516487, rs17266594, and rs3733197—were found to be restricted to ATA-carrying subgroups (P = 0.03, OR = 1.20, 95% CI = 1.02–1.41; P = 0.01, OR = 1.24, 95% CI = 1.05–1.46; P = 0.004, OR = 1.26, 95% CI = 1.07–1.47, respectively) (90). Here, BANK1 is linked to systemic sclerosis.
