Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) and transcriptome-wide association study (TWAS) have, respectively, identified 41 and 66 susceptible loci associated with PD, including autosomal recessive PD genes PRKN/PARK2, phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN)-induced putative kinase 1 (PINK1)/PARK6, Daisuke-Junko-1 (DJ-1)/PARK7, ATPase type13A2 (ATP13A2)/PARK9, and F-box only protein 7 (FBXO7)/PARK15, and autosomal dominant PD genes SNCA/PARK1, leucine-rich repeat kinase 2 (LRRK2)/PARK8, and vacuolar protein sorting 35 (VPS35)/PARK17 (Li et al., 2019b). The gene discussed is PINK1; the disease is Parkinson disease.
