Plasma antioxidants, such as the superoxide dismutase (SOD), are significantly reduced in PD, while inflammatory factors, such as high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP), are increased (Jin et al., 2020), which suggested that oxidative stress and inflammation in the peripheral blood may be involved in the pathogenesis of PD (Adav and Sze, 2020; Yang et al., 2020). Here, SOD1 is linked to Parkinson disease.
