In summary, the present study demonstrated for the first time that ABN-B, an arylbezofuran derivative from M. alba, exerts anti-cancer in vitro and in vivo in lung cancer cells which are associated with mitochondrial ROS production and the subsequent activation of ERK and AKT, suggesting that the ABN-B-induced mitochondrial ROS production could be an important mechanism for its anti-cancer effect. This evidence concerns the gene AKT1 and cancer.
