In the body's lipid metabolism, adiponectin is positively correlated with high-density lipoprotein but negatively correlated with triglycerides and low-density lipoprotein.[26,27] In addition, adiponectin is critically involved in ischemic stroke.[28,29] Pera et al[30] found that the plasma adiponectin levels were significantly reduced in patients with ischemic stroke, and the decrease of adiponectin levels was a dynamic process. This evidence concerns the gene ADIPOQ and ischemic stroke.
