In this study, we measured three different autoantibodies common to human type 1 diabetes (glutamic acid decarboxylase 65 (GAD65), insulinoma-associated protein 2 (IA-2), and zinc transporter 8 (ZnT8)) in a large group of diabetic and non-diabetic Samoyeds and Australian Terriers, two breeds at high risk for diabetes in the United States. This evidence concerns the gene INSM2 and type 1 diabetes mellitus.
