The level of mRNAs encoding the M1 and M2 isoforms of pyruvate kinase M (PKM), that catalyzes the transfer of a phosphoryl group from phosphoenolpyruvate (PEP) to ADP generating ATP, are instead similar in both cell lines (isoform M2, associated with cancer) or higher in 5637 (isoform M1) (Supplementary Figure S3f,g). This evidence concerns the gene PKM and cancer.
