Specifically, PTPN13 silencing by shRNA leads to ERBB2 overexpression and to phosphorylation of ephrinB1 (a PTPN13 substrate) that forms a complex with ERBB2 and induces ERK1/2 phosphorylation in breast cancer (MDA-MB-468), human keratinocyte (HaCaT) and head and neck squamous cancer (UM-SCC84) cell lines. This evidence concerns the gene ERBB2 and breast cancer.
