In pursuit of these themes, Zagzag D and his team [46,47] have shown, in different works, how the up-regulation of (SDF)-1α and CXCR4-receptor as well as CXCR7 on glioma cells promotes cell migration towards blood vessels through a saltatory process: this process includes periods of immobility, during which glioma cell divisions take place near vascular branch points, suggesting that the mitotic process and invasion are also triggered by local environmental cues. This evidence concerns the gene GDI1 and central nervous system cancer.
