IDH3A and cancer: SIRM has been applied most heavily in cancer research, where it has been used to elucidate alterations in metabolic networks associated with different cancers, as well as rare somatic mutations in isocitrate dehydrogenase [5,6,7], and germline lesions in fumarate hydratase [8,9,10] and succinate dehydrogenase [9,11,12].
