Yu et al. showed that mTOR activation [as indicated by phosphorylated substrate-S6 (p-S6) overexpression] promotes angiogenesis in ACC through the Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)/Signal transducer and activator of transcription-3 protein (p-Stat3) and Hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α)/Plasminogen activator inhibitor (PAI) pathways (activation of EGFR results in activation of Stat-3 and HIF-1a induces PAI production). This evidence concerns the gene HIF1A and adrenal cortex carcinoma.
