In the past decade, several schizophrenia risk genes have been reported, such as Disrupted-in-Schizophrenia 1 (DISC1), NMDA receptor subunit genes, Neuregulin 1/ErbB4 (NRG1/ErbB4), and Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), which participate in the regulation of neuroplasticity and neural connectivity [15, 57–60]. This evidence concerns the gene DISC1 and schizophrenia.
