Given that in vitro differentiation into macrophages abolishes the reduced PPARγ expression observed in monocytes of RR-MS patients (Supplementary Figure S2B), and the fact that monocytes are notoriously inefficient phagocytes, we were unable to study the direct impact of reduced PPAR signaling in MS-derived monocytes on their function. This evidence concerns the gene PPARG and myeloid sarcoma.
