To investigate the therapeutic potential of PFKFB3 inhibition on atherosclerosis, 6–8 weeks-old Ldlr–/– mice received a high fat diet for 8 weeks and were subsequently treated with the PFKFB3 inhibitor PFK158 for 5 weeks (intraperitoneal administration, 3 times per week, 2 mg/kg) (Figure 2A).
