These examples, together with several other proteins that have not been described previously to associate with diabetes (e.g. HNMT, SIT1, RTN4R, CDCP1, SIGLEC10, IFNLR1 and VSIG4) expand the knowledge about the biochemical manifestations of type 2 diabetes and provides a resource for new candidate biomarkers in this disease area. The gene discussed is IFNLR1; the disease is type 2 diabetes mellitus.
