At present, evidence for the involvement of TFEC in cancer progression is limited; however, TFEC, microphthalmia‐associated transcription factor (MITF), transcription factor EB (TFEB), and transcription factor E3 (TFE3) are important members of the family of microphthalmia transcription (MIT) factors, and recent studies have proven that changes in these transcription factors are related to melanoma, sarcoma, and renal cell carcinoma. This evidence concerns the gene TFEB and melanoma.
