There were improvements in GCF PTX-3 levels [29], an increase in TGF-β levels [73,74], a significant reduction in the number of bacteria present in subgingival plaque [30], especially prevotella intermedia [75]; one study found increased MMP levels in patients with chronic periodontitis and decreased MMP levels in patients with aggressive periodontitis [76]. This evidence concerns the gene PTX3 and periodontitis.
