A recent large meta-analysis by Zheng et al. [29] demonstrated that high blood HbA1c levels might be associated with higher risks of target vessel revascularization, progression of CAD, and nonfatal myocardial infarction among diabetic patients after PCI.We have noted that other factors can be significantly associated with increased MACCE among diabetic patients, namely smoking, obesity, use of insulin, and DDP-4 inhibitors. The gene discussed is INS; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
