Expression of human oncogenes (Ras-like GTPase Ral, Cyclin D1/Cdk4 complex, anaplastic lymphoma receptor tyrosine kinase ALK, chromatin regulator DEK, negative regulator of apoptosis Bcl-2, acute myeloid leukemia’s BCR-ABL, and more) in Drosophila eyes has previously been described to induce strong malformations of the organ3–8, providing positive examples ahead of our HumanaFly project. Here, ALK is linked to acute myeloid leukemia.
