Previous studies of HCC have revealed that the presence of vascular invasion [11], higher levels of AFP and PIVKA2 [12], the presence of hepatitis [13], a larger tumor size [10, 14], higher ICG levels and rates of liver cirhosis [15], and a higher amount of intraoperative blood loss [16–18] are strong and independent predictors of outcome. Here, AFP is linked to hepatitis A virus infection.
