The genomic region chr19:44,902,730–44,915,006, comprising the whole APOE gene as well as its promoter and small parts of TOMM40 and APOC1, was selected as a target region because it includes several SNVs and haplotypes previously linked to Alzheimer’s disease and other age-related diseases (Figure 1 and Supplementary File S1). The gene discussed is TOMM40; the disease is early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
