Considering recent reports showing that prolonged TGF-β1 exposure promotes a more stable EMT phenotype and a more aggressive behavior of breast cancer cells, we were curious to study if there was a difference in the regulation of Glut1 expression and glucose uptake in cells during the induction of EMT compared to when they acquired a more stable TGF-β1 phenotype. This evidence concerns the gene SLC2A1 and breast carcinoma.
