Reactivation and boosting of the immune system anticancer response using checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) against the programmed cell death protein 1 (PD1), the programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1), and the cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated protein 4 (CTLA4) have now set new standards for treatment of NSCLC, especially in cases without an identified driver mutation [205]. Here, CTLA4 is linked to non-small cell lung carcinoma.
