Several publications [3,4,5] have appeared in recent years documenting the increased expression of interleukin 8 (CXCL8, IL-8), interleukin 6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis factor (TNFα) in cancer cells, infiltrating neutrophils, endothelial cells and tumor-associated macrophages. The gene discussed is CXCL8; the disease is cancer.
