The recombinant VSVΔm51-induced cell death in BMMCs observed in this study aligns with previous reports on attenuated strains of VSV that were found to be highly lytic in IFN-non-responsive human tumor cell lines from the NCI-60 panel (leukemia, colon carcinoma, non-small-cell lung carcinoma, melanoma, ovarian carcinoma, renal carcinoma, and prostate and breast cancer), as compared with IFN-responsive cells [55,56]. This evidence concerns the gene IFNA1 and leukemia.
