Two mutations in the promoter of the Telomerase reverse transcriptase gene (TERT), called C228T and C250T, are frequent in various human cancers and particularly in UCs (carcinomas of the bladder and upper urinary tract) where it is seen in 60–85% of cases (74% for non-invasive UCs) [9,10]. The gene discussed is TERT; the disease is urinary bladder carcinoma.
