Mutations in fused-in-sarcoma RNA-binding protein (FUS) and in heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein A1 (hnRNPA1) are involved in familial forms of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and frontotemporal dementia (FTD) [163,164,165]. The gene discussed is HNRNPA1; the disease is amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
