ADIPOQ and Insulin resistance: It has been demonstrated from the present study that a moderate weight loss of 9.3 kg (represented 9.7% of the original weight) induced by a balanced low caloric diet was accompanied by a significant increase in serum total adiponectin level from 13.3 to 18.5 μg/ml, which represented 50.2% increase from the original level and a decrease in insulin resistance by 13.7%.
