In a different study, Wang et al. reported that in melanocytes, UV exposure resulted in an increased expression of PD1L1 through the activation of the HMGB1/RAGE axis, and it resulted in significant reduction of the susceptibility of melanoma cells to CD8+ T-cell-dependent cytotoxicity, further demonstrating the important role of the HMGB1/RAGE axis in melanoma development [212]. This evidence concerns the gene HMGB1 and melanoma.
