Even recent in vivo and in silico studies have shown that rutin is an excellent candidate to eliminate viral replication of SARS-CoV and SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19), respectively; for example, Elmi et al. [24] suggest that rutin acts on angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE 2), which is the receptor that binds to the spike glycoprotein of SARS-CoV-2 that facilitates membrane fusion and viral infection. This evidence concerns the gene ACE2 and COVID-19.
