As expected from published PrediXcan and TWAS applications to other diseases [76, 77], many genes associated with CF lung disease severity are around the reported genome-wide significant loci from GWAS (red squares in Fig 3, and Table 1A), but there are also significant genes elsewhere (blue triangles in Fig 3, and Table 1B), including MET ~700 kb upstream of CFTR on chr7, TAPT1 on chr4, and HEATR2 on chr7 to name a few. This evidence concerns the gene DNAAF5 and lung disorder.
