Recently, via analyzing Tfr1 fat-conditional knockout mice, Tfr1 was found to be vital for fat biology since Tfr1 deficiency promoted the transdifferentiation of brown adipocytes into muscle-like cells, blunted cold-induced browning of white fat and thermogenesis, but led to HFD-induced hyperlipidemia, insulin resistance, and local inflammation (Li et al., 2020). The gene discussed is TFRC; the disease is hyperlipidemia.
