FOXO3 and primary ovarian failure: Li Y. et al. (2020) observed that oral oyster polypeptide can protect the ovaries from D-galactose-induced premature ovarian failure, mediated via anti-oxidative stress activity. Meanwhile, growing data demonstrate that excess androgen may be the primary cause of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). During the early stage of mouse folliculogenesis, testosterone induces the redistribution of FOXO3a, suggesting the involvement of FOXO3a in the pathogenesis of PCOS (Yang et al., 2010).
