Knockdown of ANO1 in human pancreatic cancer cells resulted in a significantly inhibited EGF-induced phosphorylation of tyrosine residues Y1016 and Y1092 of EGFR and of Ca2+ response to EGF; however, signaling consequences of this are unclear, as EGF-induced phosphorylation of phospholipase Cγ, AKT, and ERK was not affected in that study (Crottes et al., 2019). This evidence concerns the gene ANO1 and familial pancreatic carcinoma.
