Given the success of long-term pharmacological Nrf2 therapy against MS in particular, as well as an isolated case study using an Nrf2 activator supplement in one DMD patient which demonstrated promising effects on disease biomarkers, Nrf2 could be a useful therapeutic target against not only DMD, but also other neuromuscular, neurodegenerative and metabolic diseases. This evidence concerns the gene NFE2L2 and Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
