We examined the relationship between inflammatory markers and cancer mortality and found that those with higher CRP levels had a significantly higher risk of cancer mortality in the NHANES III dataset (log-rank p < 0.001), yet there was no significant association between CRP and cancer mortality in the NHANES 1999–2002 dataset (log-rank p = 0.10) (Supplemental Fig. 3). Here, CRP is linked to cancer.
