Using data from tPTEN-/- cells could be a bias as PTEN mutations are observed in only 15%–20% of the cases, although it has to be kept in mind that the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway negatively controlled by PTEN is abnormally active in almost 90% of T-ALL cases. The gene discussed is AKT1; the disease is acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
