In contrast to the epileptogenic action of the KCC2 inhibitor VU0463271 (Figs. 2, 3), high concentrations of furosemide (1–2 mm) demonstrate strong anti-ictal effects in various in vitro models of epilepsy (Hochman et al., 1995; Gutschmidt et al., 1999; Haglund and Hochman, 2005; Blauwblomme et al., 2018). The gene discussed is SLC12A5; the disease is epilepsy.
