TP53 and neoplasm: The adenoma-carcinoma sequence is a classic model detailing the progressive accumulation of genetic mutations leading from the transition of normal colonic or rectal tissue to an adenomatous polyp, with subsequent inactivation of tumor suppression genes (i.e., Adenomatous polyposis coli (APC), Tumor protein 53 (TP53)), activation of oncogenes (i.e., rat sarcoma (RAS)) and eventual development of CRC [1,9].
