Knockout of FGFR-4 prevented transgenic mice that exogenously expressed FGF19 from developing tumors, suggesting an association of aberrant FGF19/FGFR-4 in the development of HCC and providing a rationale for targeting FGF19/FGFR-4 to treat a subgroup of patients with FGF19/FGFR-4-dependent HCC tumors9,12,16,17. The gene discussed is FGFR4; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
