Among 84 patients with sepsis and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, 4 × 50 mg/kg vitamin C for 4 days did not significantly reduce the organ failure, inflammation (C-reactive protein) and vascular injury (thrombomodulin), when compared with patients receiving placebo; however, overall, vitamin C supplementation reduced the mortality rate [27]. Here, THBD is linked to acute respiratory distress syndrome.
