HIC1 (Hypermethylated in Cancer 1) is a tumor suppressor gene located at 17p13.3 on the short arm of chromosome 17 [6] (Figure 1), a region frequently silenced by hypermethylation or deleted by loss of heterozygosity (LOH) in many human cancers including breast [7, 8], colon [6, 9, 10], lung [11] and prostate carcinomas [12–15], particularly in metastatic PCa [16].
