Of the other SNP outliers detected, several were found in regions where genes regulating glucose and other carbohydrate metabolism are located, and many of those have been connected with diabetes in humans (e.g., SORCS1, Sortilin Related VPS10 Domain Containing Receptor 1 in chromosome 1; CAV1, caveolin 1, MGAM, maltase‐glucoamylase and MGAM2, maltase‐glucoamylase 2 in chromosome 4; Table S2). Here, MGAM is linked to diabetes mellitus.
