REN and hydrops fetalis: In particular, the development of HF and DM together is associated with many systemic organ abnormalities that extend beyond the heart, including activation of the renin–angiotensin–aldosterone and autonomic nervous systems, an elevated immune and inflammatory response, macrovascular and microvascular dysfunction, disturbed whole‐body energy metabolism, pulmonary impairments, and maladaptation of skeletal muscle and adipose tissue (Figure1).
