Contrary to our finding, a previous study showed that oral cholecalciferol supplementation (100,000 IU bolus followed by 4,000 IU daily) for 16 weeks among healthy overweight and obese individuals with vitamin D deficiency had no significant effects on proinflammatory markers and the nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) activity. The gene discussed is NFKB1; the disease is vitamin D deficiency.
