To get a comprehensive overview of the effects of the microenvironment on NIS expression and localization, post-translational NIS regulation and metabolic changes within tumor cells, we performed radioiodine uptake, immunofluorescence, proteomics and metabolomics analyses on tumor cells cultured in conditions evoking hypoxia, normoxia, proliferation or quiescence. This evidence concerns the gene SLC5A5 and neoplasm.
