The most recurrently mutated genes in AML include nucleoplasmin 1 (NPM1), Fms-like tyrosine kinase 3 (FLT3), DNA methyltransferase 3A (DNMT3A), isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH1 and IDH2) and ten–eleven translocation 2 (TeT2) mutations [7]. The gene discussed is IDH2; the disease is acute myeloid leukemia.
