Since the first proof of concept trial for stopping tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), the STIM1 study, successful treatment-free remission (TFR) has been obtained in many patients with chronic-phase chronic myeloid leukemia (CP-CML), both after imatinib and after second generation TKIs (2GTKIs) [1,2,3,4,5,6,7]. The gene discussed is STIM1; the disease is chronic myelogenous leukemia, BCR-ABL1 positive.
