In these cholesterol auxotrophic cells, studies have shown that inhibition of low-density lipoprotein (LDL)–mediated cholesterol uptake by reduction of expression of the LDL receptor (LDLR) reduced the viability of ALK+ ALCL cells and ALK+ ALCL patient-derived xenografts in vivo (16) and sensitized the cells to ferroptosis by GPX4 inhibitors (16). The gene discussed is ALK; the disease is anaplastic large cell lymphoma.
